Hi there, my name is Laura Linklater. I am a qualified teacher with 10+ years' experience teaching and tutoring and a home educating, Worldschooling Mum of 3 children all under 8 years old. I love travelling, teaching, swimming and playing the guitar - though I am definitely still an early learner in the guitar area! Teaching and learning are my passion and I have a Masters in Education (MEd), which I studied for whilst I was teaching in the classroom. My MEd followed the specialism of Equality and Diversity as I believe all children should have access to quality teaching and learning the world over. 

My experience of being a class teacher AND being a home educator and having close relationships with other home ed families gives me an invaluable insight into the needs of both types of families – and the increasing number of flexi schoolers we are seeing as education in the UK evolves.

In addition to my PGCE and MEd, I have recently gained my TESOL/ TEFL certification which means I can teach English as a Foreign Language and help children and families with additional EAL requirements. I undertook this extra qualification to support me in providing the best service I can for a wider range of learners in this global age where many families are travelling and settling in the UK.

Through teaching and tutoring, I developed a keen ability to use Assessment for Learning (AfL) techniques to pinpoint where my mixed class’s understanding or where a new 1:1 student sat in their learning journey, and to do it quickly. I have a huge array of resources that I can reach for to support my students from the very start of our relationship and enable them to thrive and shine.
