I am a 3rd year medical student at UCL, highly motivated to make sure students achieve the grades they desire. Willing to help out with medical school applications as well.
Have tutored sixth form biology and chemistry students for a year and helped them query and clarify any misunderstandings of core concepts. Volunteered in a school for children with disability and taught physical education, which made me gain new skills such as patience and empathy I hope to use in future endeavours. Finally, was a English mentor to primary school kids, with my responsibility to help with their fluency and pronunciation.
My lessons will be hugely tailored to individual students and very interactive. At first I will ask questions to students to identify any areas of strengths and weaknesses in the course. Once identified, we will go through methods, best suited to the student, to get better understanding of topics. Methods can include visual learning, where I would use the whiteboard to draw out processes and structures to help students visualise anything they struggled with. Also will encourage student to also try explain different topics in their words to see if they have a good grasp of the knowledge. After consolidation of basic topics and concepts, I will use exam style questions to help tailor the student's knowledge to a point where they are best equipped to secure the maximum marks in an exam. Lessons will also provide a huge focus on questions where I will provide resources that include a lot of exam style questions. If there are still any gaps in knowledge, I will devise revision strategies such as providing flashcards and making topic quizzes.
Having secured a place in medical school and achieved excellent GCSEs and A Levels, I have proven I have good knowledge of the curriculum for subjects such as Biology and Chemistry. Have had experience of Edexcel Biology and Chemistry in GCSE and CIE Biology and AQA Chemistry in A Level.
