I am a third-year student studying Mathematics at Durham University. I have 4 years of experience tutoring students from years 7-13 both online and in person. I fell in love with maths due to its ability to describe everything and is the most rewarding subject available in my opinion, but what lead me to tutoring was receiving the same sense of satisfaction from seeing my students achieve this feeling for themselves. 

I have been tutoring maths and science for the last 4 years, so I have a good idea of how to cater a session specifically so the student gets the most out of it. Maths and science are subjects where it is extremely important to have this, even the most complicated aspects can be understood if broken down and explained in the proper way for each student. I find this particularly true when studying myself since often I find myself struggling with questions and concepts where I need to learn to teach myself in the best-suited method for me or my friends if helping them with similar issues. I believe that education is the most important resource anyone can have access to and hope to make learning a more enjoyable experience for everyone.

I find working with the student to form a realistic yet challenging goal for the session is a valuable tool to help improve their skills and helps them get to grips with the most fundamental issues that they are encountering currently. My style is generally focused on getting the student to answer questions on topics they are less confident with, giving help whenever it seems necessary until they get to the point where they can confidently answer the questions on their own. I try to structure the lesson so that we go through a starter activity that will recap whatever work we covered in the last session and make sure that any gaps in knowledge are covered. I am also happy to teach new concepts in a similar fashion where I run through the ideas behind the topic and then set some questions to put the theory into practice.

I am available on all days of the week from 11am-8pm. Please feel free to ask if any exceptions are needed.
