I'm a highly experienced, qualified Primary School teacher with over 25 years of working within the childcare and education sector. I have an in-depth understanding of how children learn and how to support and progress their learning. I offer online sessions and I provide all the teaching resources. I am passionate about education and believe that, through providing an environment which is supportive and nurturing, all children can fulfill their academic potential.
Since gaining my teaching degree in 2012 I have taught across all year groups and all national curriculum subjects. I have taught a diverse range of children covering all abilities to include SEND children. I have experience of teaching children with dyslexia, ASD and ADHD, for example. I have also taught gifted and talented pupils, challenging and pushing them further. I have taught and supported children through all statutory government assessments to include 11+, SATs, Year 4 multiplication test check and Year 1 phonics screening. I have taught children whose first language isn't English and additionally I have a Level 5 TEFL Diploma.
I am driven by my main goals of enabling children to achieve academic progress whilst building their confidence. I am passionate about creating a learning environment which engages, motivates, and challenges pupils’ learning, so that they can flourish into confident, resilient and successful learners. I pride myself on understanding the individual learning needs of a child and adapting my teaching to ensure they are challenged and progression is achieved. I ensure that children have an active role in each session and there is a strong emphasis on practical, fun and challenging learning. I use a range of teaching styles and learning strategies so that every child gains a sense of achievement. I include games, stories, songs, role-play, props, quizzes, worksheets, for example. I use some of the first session to assess the child, this enables me to explore any gaps in their learning, areas of strength/weakness and to understand how they learn best. I then create a long-term plan, ensuring that every lesson is tailor made to their individual needs.
