My name is Alice and I am currently a student at King's College London studying History and Modern Languages BA (French pathway). Whilst the main part of my degree is split evenly between French and History, I am also learning Japanese on the side.
I studied History, English Literature, and French at A Level, achieving 3 A*s. I also took Maths up until AS Level and achieved a B, and have 10 GCSES all at a grade 8 and 9 level.
Whilst I was at school, I ran the school's tutoring programme and tutored all three of my A Level subjects and a small amount of maths to GCSE pupils, as well as looking after the organisation of the programme. I enjoy helping other pupils to improve in their subjects, as I know there's no better feeling than finally getting something that you've been working hard on! I also understand that essay based courses can be frustratingly subjective and difficult to gain the top marks in, so I prioritise having a good understanding of the specific exam techniques that different exam boards reward, as well as a strong knowledge of the content. I am also undertaking a TEFL scholarship this summer, and my prior experience in teaching English as a foreign language has given me a unique understanding of how to improve essay writing of all students, whether English is their native language or not.
Overall, I like to employ a holistic style which encompasses the pragmatic side of satisfying the exam boards' preferences, improving content knowledge, and fine-tuning students' written skills.
