I am a qualified mathematics teacher with five years' experience of teaching in both comprehensive and selective schools. During that time I have taught every single year group and at all ranges and level of ability, from Year 7 right up to and including A-Level Further Maths.

I have extensive experience of teaching Edexcel GCSE and A-Level Mathematics and also teaching A-Level Maths and Further Maths for AQA, and have very good knowledge of the curricula for each of those exam boards. I have also taught the Level 2 qualification in Further Maths, giving me an excellent understanding of the transition between GCSE and A-Level Maths and the links between those two stages.

I take an extremely patient, thoughtful approach to tutoring and tailor my reaching to the particular academic requirements of the students. When tutoring, I like to spend time at the start of the session determining a student's confidence level and ensuring that they have thorough understanding of the pre-requisites of the topic being covered in that particular session, before looking at examples of the specific skill the tutee is looking to practice, breaking down each example step-by-step so that I can understand the student's work. I will always allow time in the session for the tutee to independently practice the skill or to work through exam questions.
