My credentials

Alongside my wealth of experience as a Deputy Head of Sixth Form and in leading subjects at Key Stage 4 & 5, my passion for my subjects (and imparting this with others) stems from a fascination with the use of language, literature and cinema to help us understand more about our shared human experience.

Meanwhile, I am familiar with supporting Key Stage 5 students throughout the application process to secure places at the most prestigious universities in the world (Oxbridge, Russell Group, Ivy League and beyond).

My expertise in supporting students with constructing a wide array of essays is made apparent through the meticulous attention to detail in my feedback and a determination to enhance the understanding and use of sophisticated vocabulary.

I hold a firm overriding belief that learning should be engaging and relatable - as there is no greater fuel towards academic success than a combination of passion and intrigue!

• Each session is planned meticulously in line with specific learning objectives which are planned out sequentially towards the attainment of both mid and long term goals;
   
• Focus on driving student progress through industry-leading principles of deliberate practice, feedback and metacognition;
   
• Encourage students to express precise and insightful ideas and inferences within their writing;
   
• Throughout all phases of the lesson I encourage the discussion and sharing of perspectives using high level vocabulary;
   
• Have an underlying focus on the broader contextual intentions of writers / filmmakers - the understanding of which is pivotal in pushing students towards top level grades.
